Community Update #13: Momentum is building

Dear Eight backers,

Happy September! The past month has been full of momentum for Eight, and we’re so excited to share our progress with you.

The total number of units shipped so far is 1,050, and we continue to ship bigger unit batches every week. Here’s the most up-to-date timeline of when we expect to ship each unit based on cover size and location:

Queen (US): late September
Queen (International): early October
King (US): early October
King (International): early November
Cali King & Full (US): early November
Cali King & Full (International): late November

The past month has been very exciting, as we increase our user base significantly week over week, and get a ton of great feedback. We’re considering everything we hear, and working quickly to incorporate these improvements into the app and product.


The Sleep Lab
In August, we launched a new feature on the app called the Sleep Lab. The purpose is to understand how your habits and behaviors during the day affect your sleep each night.

Many factors play into getting a great night’s sleep, and those factors vary greatly person to person. By correlating and analyzing many factors together (like temperature, caffeine, and exercise), we hope to figure out each user’s ideal ‘formula’ for great sleep. Learn more here >

Sleep Sessions
We recently released Sleep Sessions, which display multiple sessions of sleep during the day and/or night. For example, if you take a nap in the middle of the day, you would see two separate sleep sessions:

The team is working on the next round of features, system upgrades, sleep data visualizations, and upcoming IFTTT channel with product integrations to launch in the coming weeks. Here’s what you’ll see in the next app update, scheduled for release early next week…

Sleep Stages Histogram
We’ll begin displaying the highly requested sleep ‘histogram’. This timeline will show when you were in deep sleep, light sleep, or awake throughout the night.

Fall Asleep & Wake Up Times
You’ll also start seeing the times you fell asleep and woke up, in addition to the times got in bed and out of bed on the sleep schedule card. It is especially helpful to know how long it took you to fall asleep after getting in bed (another requested metric that may pop up in future).
